The ITU AVR-1
Programmer Utilities for Linux Home Page
11-Nov-98
This is something I didn't want to do, but I have had so many people ask me about ITU, that I knew this page would be written by me eventually.
I offer it as News to the PICMicro community, not as an obituary.
Chris Sakkas of ITU Technologies http://www.itutech.com
(Home Page now gone 12-Mar-1999) passed away on or about the 18th of October
1998.
Chris was only 27, he suffered from beta-thallasemia major and needed
regular treatment.
I had a fair bit to do with Chris and although we were competitors, we always assisted each other.
I had the only Logo link on his Piclinks page http://www.itutech.com/pic.htm which was a thank you for my assistance.
Together, we marketed the Newfound range of PICmicro programmers. These were the Warp-3 and PP1, Australian products designed by Jim Robertson of Geelong, which is about 40 miles from where I am in Melbourne.
As email now goes unanswered, I can't find out any further information about Chris.
18-Dec-98
His phone lines have now been disconnected, and his business contacts
are unable to communicate with anyone at ITU.
Customers have contacted me concerned about orders they have just sent
in, but I am unable to give them any direction. I can only assume that
any credit card transaction wouldn't be honored by a bank under the circumstances,
as the bank would be aware of the situation.
As the ITU home page is still active, I again assume that at some stage in the next 12 months, the ISP will remove it.
If there is a friend or work colleague that would like to add any additional details about Chris, please let me know and I'll add them to this page.
I know Chris was very popular in the PICmicro world, and had a lot more to offer. Sadly missed by his friends.
Don McKenzie.
Few days after his death we received from him an upgrade version for
the TVOSD. Last email received from him at 6th of October. He helped me
very much and even placed in his site a piece of code we wrote for the
8051+TVOSD. It is very sad that such a young and good guy is not with us
any more.
