It uses a standard USB B connector (same as all of the other modules that Dontronics sells) to connect to your PC using a standard AM to BM cable, and an 8 pin footprint at .1" centers on your target board, to allow simple connect to your breadboard or Micro board. The CP210x chip has a UART, and on-board EEPROM built right it. http://www.dontronics.com/micro-usb.html -- Don McKenzie E-Mail Contact Page: http://www.e-dotcom.com/ecp.php?un=Dontronics RS-232 to VGA. It's a big shame they don't have any hardware handshake lines on it - could have used it if it did. Do you know if the CTS signal line is accessible on the PCB? The situation I need to protect against is the PC sending too much data for the micro to process. Just having the CTS like so the micro can tell the USB chip to stop sending is all I need. The only other issues is, what hardware handshake line state be that the PC applications will see? > Perhaps something like http://www.dontronics.com/giga.html#usbmod3 > will suit you. The price and size is getting up with these units. The chip is only 5mm square, and the tracks are tiny. The pins are viewable under a maggy glass for me. I can see the cts pin of the chip, but getting a wire soldered to it ??? My smd skills are almost zero. My eyesight isn't much better these days. Have a look at page 7 of: http://www2.silabs.com/public/documents/tpub_doc/dsheet/Microcontrollers/Interface/en/CP2101.pdf Pin 23. you will see it next to a NC pin. Perhaps a good operator could solder a wire across the two pins, but it ain't me :-) Don... -- Don McKenzie E-Mail Contact Page: http://www.e-dotcom.com/ecp.php?un=Dontronics RS-232 to VGA.
