The STK200 Starter Kit is a complete evaluation platform for taking your AT90S AVR design from conception to realization. The STK200 Starter Kit is the ideal method to get acquainted with the AT90S AVR microcontroller family, including the new analog devices. The STK200 Starter Kit from Atmel Corporation supports the following Atmel AT90S AVR devices:

The STK200 development board is complete with push-button switches and LED’s. All of the microcontroller ports are accessible through 0.1” headers on the board. The regulated power supply accepts a DC or AC input voltage source, and 3.3V or 5V operation can be selected by jumper settings. The on-board brown-out detector circuit is user selectable to
2.9V or 4.5V.

An external LCD can be interfaced to the AVR microcontroller via a standard14-pin header on the board. A potentiometer is supplied for contrast adjustment. The STK200 has support for external SRAM with sockets for Address latch and SRAM device. The internal 10 bits A/D converter on the analog AVR microcontroller is accessible through a separate header connector on the edge of the board. The analog reference voltage can be adjusted with an on-board potentiometer or optionally with an external reference voltage.

Included with the STK200 FLASH MCU Starter Kit is an In-System Pro-gramming (ISP) cable that can be used to program all classic Atmel AVR microcontroller in the application via a 10-pin header. This provides an ideal method for updating your code without having to physically remove the device from your application board.

The STK200 FLASH AVR MCU Starter Kit.
Bill of Materials:

You should be able to get one of these units a lot cheaper from the distributors than purchasing from Dontronics, as the distributors have been told to keep their selling price to a minimum. Atmel believe selling these Starter kits at cost, will promote sales of Atmel micros, which we are sure is correct.

In order to keep costs as low as possible, we have come up with a package that includes the STK200 kit plus the following:
1 by SIMM100 2" SimmStick bare PCB for the AT90S8535. Normally $11AUD
1 by AT90S8535-08-PC 40 pin DIP,  8Mhz, 8K Flash. Normally $22AUD
1 by 8Mhz Crystal Normally $3AUD

The Simm100 is a great prototype target board for this system, as it has a 10 pin ISP matching header, and can be used as a SimmStick, or a stand alone target board.

The full Dontronics STK200 Development System includes the Atmel STK200 FLASH AVR MCU Starter Kit, plus the Simm100, 8535 and crystal.

And as a free bonus, we will throw in the DT207 SimmStick Power supply and RS-232 Comms bare PCB as an incentive to have a hard look at the SimmStick architecture.
