We now have AT89S8252, 24Mhz micros in a 40 pin DIP package, and 74HCT126's, so we are putting this project together into a pack, much the same as we did with Pickaxe for the PICmicros.

I also noticed that with both IC's populated, it would not work. So one of the 2 chips must be removed. About ISP programming: this is really a pain. Not all LPT-ports are compatible and for some users, it will not work. Don's design is
compatible with the design I use.

The price of this micro has dropped so much, and its features are so good for the price, we have decided to put together a SimmStick hardware pack to suit.

The ATMEL AT89S8252 is a 40 pin 8K flash micro that is ideal for SimmStick use and fits in nicely with Bascomlt and Bascom-8051.

The DT206 SimmStick in conjunction with the DT004 printer port and power supply adapter make this Programmer section very easy. Full schematics are available, if you wish to build your own.

Drivers for this programmer are already built into Bascomlt, and Bascom-8051, which is an excellent value, well supported Basic Compiler that is 99% QBasic compatible. It couldn't be easier. Bascomlt is $49USD and Bascom-8051 is $69USD.

There is an email chat group for Bascom. Even if you are using the demo.

The DT103 SimmStick supports this micro. Check my Atmel links for further info.

NOTE *** This 8252Pack doesn't include individual resistors and capacitors.
You must also configure a method of running a cable from the 16 pin SPI Programming header on the DT206 board, to the 8 pin SPI bus on the DT103 board. This can be done with flat ribbon cable and crimp headers. As the signals also appear on the Simm Bus of the DT103 board, a flat ribbon cable could be jumpered to the appropriate pins of the target board bus.
